Roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) – Vehicles are loaded onto a ship that contains a cargo area built like a very big parking garage. International RoRo shipping tends to be cheaper as, other than the shipping charge, you are required to pay only port charges and customs clearance charges.

Shared container service – This method for car shipping to Greece requires multiple vehicles to be loaded into one shipping container. Once your car has been cleared through customs and you have paid all of the relevant import duties and taxes, you will receive a Customs Clearance Certificate from Greek Customs. Your vehicle will then need to undergo an inspection by the Technical Inspection Service (KTEO). This will ensure that your vehicle complies with all of the relevant Greek safety and environmental regulations. On passing this inspection, you will receive a valid inspection certificate.

Once you have this inspection certificate, you will need to register your vehicle at the local Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Before registering your vehicle, you must ensure that you have a suitable Greek insurance policy in place that meets all local requirements.

In order to register your car with the Greek authorities, you will need to gather together all of the necessary documentation, including:

• Ownership certificate/Original title
  • If the car shipping applicant is the car owner, as shown in the foreign registration certificate, a declaration of ownership with an authenticated signature should be presented.
  • If the applicant is not stated as the car owner in the foreign registration certificate, then a certified sales declaration should be provided.
• Vehicle Registration document
• Passport, driver’s license and/or Residence Permit to prove your identity and residency status in Greece. (this must include a Greek translation if written in a foreign language) – this document must be certified as being an accurate translation of the original document by an official translator, competent diplomatic or consular representative.
• Customs Declaration/Clearance Statement

• Technical Inspection (KTEO) Report
• Proof of valid Greek insurance
• Certificate of conformity (COC), if available
• Application form for vehicle registration

In order to register your vehicle in Greece, you will need to pay the necessary registration fee.
